Established in 2016, the mission of our lab is the integration of molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, computational biology and protein and microbial engineering for the characterization and development of novel protein- and biofilm-based technologies. Our diverse but overlapping research lines are devoted to gaining insights into the sequence-structure-function relationship in enzymes and transcription factors of relevance for biotechnology and medicine, the discovery and design of novel proteins as biocatalysts with potential biotechnological and industrial applications, and the characterization and engineering of biofilm-forming microorganisms in medical and industrial contexts.
